Gloucester History Festival

Autumn History Festival 2025

Saturday 6th – Sunday 21st September 2025

The two-week Gloucester History Festival is back in September with a packed programme of 150 talks, exhibitions, tours and performances taking place all over the ancient city of Gloucester.

Kicking off with Gloucester Day on Saturday 6 September, celebrating the lifting of the Civil War Siege of Gloucester in 1643, the Festival includes the fabulous Heritage Open Days weekend throwing open Gloucester great historic buildings for free.

Blackfriars Priory hosts the final week of festivities from Friday 13 to Sunday 21 September. Our keynote talks programme features events with 100 of Britain’s greatest historians, broadcasters and thinkers who come together under the Priory’s medieval beams to share their love of history.
